How to uninstall Atom from your PC

If you are manually uninstalling Atom we advise you to check if the following data is left behind on your PC.

Directories left on disk:

• C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\atom

The files below are left behind on your disk when you remove Atom:

• C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\atom\Update.exe
• C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\GitHub, Inc\Atom.lnk

Use regedit.exe to manually remove from the Windows Registry the data below:

• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shell\Atom
• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\application/atom+xml
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\atom

Use regedit.exe to delete the following additional values from the Windows Registry:

• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shell\Atom\Icon
• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shell\Atom\command\
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\atom\DisplayIcon
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\atom\DisplayName

A way to erase Atom with Advanced Uninstaller PRO

Atom is a program released by the software company GitHub Inc.. Sometimes, users choose to erase this application. 2. Run Advanced Uninstaller PRO. It's recommended to take your time to admire the program's interface and wealth of functions available. Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a powerful package of tools.

3. Press the General Tools category


4. Activate the Uninstall Programs feature


5. A list of the programs installed on the PC will appear

6. Navigate the list of programs until you find Atom or simply click the Search field and type in "Atom". If it exists on your system the Atom app will be found very quickly. When you click Atom in the list of apps, the following information regarding the program is available to you:

• Safety rating (in the lower left corner). The star rating tells you the opinion other users have regarding Atom, from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
• Reviews by other users - Press the Read reviews button.
• Details regarding the program you want to remove, by pressing the Properties button.

7. Press the Uninstall button. A window asking you to confirm will show up. accept the removal by pressing Uninstall. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will then uninstall Atom.


8. After removing Atom, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will ask you to run a cleanup. Click Next to start the cleanup. All the items of Atom that have been left behind will be found and you will be able to delete them. By removing Atom with Advanced Uninstaller PRO, you can be sure that no registry items, files or folders are left behind on your disk.
