How to uninstall VeraCrypt from your system

If you are manually uninstalling VeraCrypt we suggest you to check if the following data is left behind on your PC.

Folders remaining:

• C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Roaming\VeraCrypt

You will find in the Windows Registry that the following data will not be uninstalled; remove them one by one using regedit.exe:

• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\VeraCrypt Format.exe
• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\VeraCrypt.exe
• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\VeraCrypt
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\VeraCrypt
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\veracrypt

Open regedit.exe in order to remove the following values:

• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\MuiCache\C:\Program Files\VeraCrypt\VeraCrypt.exe
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\veracrypt\DisplayName
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\veracrypt\ImagePath

A way to remove VeraCrypt with the help of Advanced Uninstaller PRO

3. Press the General Tools category


4. Click on the Uninstall Programs feature


5. A list of the programs existing on your PC will be made available to you

6. Scroll the list of programs until you find VeraCrypt or simply activate the Search field and type in "VeraCrypt". If it is installed on your PC the VeraCrypt app will be found very quickly. Notice that when you click VeraCrypt in the list of programs, some information regarding the application is shown to you:

• Safety rating (in the lower left corner). The star rating tells you the opinion other users have regarding VeraCrypt, from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
• Opinions by other users - Press the Read reviews button.
• Technical information regarding the program you are about to remove, by clicking on the Properties button.

7. Press the Uninstall button. A confirmation window will show up. accept the removal by clicking Uninstall. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will automatically remove VeraCrypt.


8. After uninstalling VeraCrypt, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will offer to run a cleanup. Press Next to proceed with the cleanup. All the items that belong VeraCrypt that have been left behind will be found and you will be asked if you want to delete them.
