Some files and registry entries are frequently left behind when you remove VMware Workstation.

Check for and delete the following files from your disk when you uninstall VMware Workstation:
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\VMware\workstation.log
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\VMware Workstation Pro 17.5 Build 22583795 (x64).lnk

You will find in the Windows Registry that the following data will not be removed; remove them one by one using regedit.exe:
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VMware Workstation

How to uninstall VMware Workstation using Advanced Uninstaller PRO

VMware Workstation is an application marketed by the software company VMware, Inc.. Sometimes, users decide to remove this program. Sometimes this can be difficult because performing this manually takes some skill related to removing Windows programs manually. One of the best QUICK way to remove VMware Workstation is to use Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Here is how to do this:

  • download the setup by pressing the green DOWNLOAD button
  • set up Advanced Uninstaller PRO
2. Start Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Take your time to get familiar with Advanced Uninstaller PRO's design and wealth of functions available. Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a powerful package of utilities.

3. Press the General Tools button

4. Activate the Uninstall Programs button

5. All the applications installed on the PC will appear

6. Navigate the list of applications until you find VMware Workstation or simply click the Search field and type in "VMware Workstation". If it exists on your system the VMware Workstation app will be found very quickly. Notice that when you select VMware Workstation in the list of applications, the following information about the application is shown to you:


  • Star rating (in the lower left corner). This tells you the opinion other people have about VMware Workstation, ranging from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
  • Opinions by other people - Press the Read reviews button.
  • Details about the application you wish to remove, by pressing the Properties button.
7. Click the Uninstall button. A confirmation window will show up. accept the removal by pressing the Uninstall button. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will then remove VMware Workstation.
