When planning to uninstall VMware Workstation you should check if the following data is left behind on your PC.

The files below are left behind on your disk by VMware Workstation's application uninstaller when you removed it:
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Search_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\AppIconCache\125\VMware_Workstation_vmplayer
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Search_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\AppIconCache\125\VMware_Workstation_vmui

Many times the following registry keys will not be cleaned:
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VMware Workstation
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\E629720AF05CEFB40B8EA3BCDA7766EE
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{A027926E-C50F-4BFE-B0E8-3ACBAD7766EE}
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware Workstation

Open regedit.exe to delete the values below from the Windows Registry:
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\E629720AF05CEFB40B8EA3BCDA7766EE\ProductName
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\Folders\C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{A027926E-C50F-4BFE-B0E8-3ACBAD7766EE}\


A way to remove VMware Workstation with Advanced Uninstaller PRO

VMware Workstation is an application marketed by the software company VMware, Inc.. Some computer users choose to uninstall this program. Sometimes this can be easier said than done because deleting this by hand takes some knowledge regarding Windows program uninstallation. 3. Press the General Tools button

4. Activate the Uninstall Programs tool

5. A list of the programs existing on the computer will be made available to you

6. Navigate the list of programs until you find VMware Workstation or simply click the Search feature and type in "VMware Workstation". If it is installed on your PC the VMware Workstation app will be found automatically. Notice that when you select VMware Workstation in the list of apps, some information regarding the application is shown to you:


  • Star rating (in the lower left corner). The star rating tells you the opinion other people have regarding VMware Workstation, ranging from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
  • Reviews by other people - Press the Read reviews button.
  • Details regarding the application you want to uninstall, by clicking on the Properties button.
7. Press the Uninstall button. A confirmation window will show up. accept the uninstall by clicking Uninstall. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will automatically uninstall VMware Workstation.
