A guide to uninstall NVDA from your PC

You can find on this page details on how to remove NVDA for Windows. It was coded for Windows by NV Access. You can find out more on NV Access or check for application updates here. More information about NVDA can be seen at http://www.nvaccess.org/. The program is frequently installed in the C:\Program Files\NVDA folder. Keep in mind that this path can vary depending on the user's decision. You can remove NVDA by clicking on the Start menu of Windows and pasting the command line C:\Program Files\NVDA\uninstall.exe. Note that you might receive a notification for administrator rights. nvda_uiAccess.exe is the NVDA's primary executable file and it takes close to 44.09 KB (45144 bytes) on disk.

The executable files below are installed together with NVDA. They take about 418.89 KB (428944 bytes) on disk.

If you are manually uninstalling NVDA we advise you to verify if the following data is left behind on your PC.

Folders remaining:

• C:\Program Files (x86)\NVDA
• C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\NVDA
• C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Temp\comtypes_cache\nvda_noUIAccess-27
• C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Temp\comtypes_cache\nvda_slave-27

Generally, the following files are left on disk:

• C:\Program Files (x86)\NVDA\_ctypes.pyd
• C:\Program Files (x86)\NVDA\_hashlib.pyd
• C:\Program Files (x86)\NVDA\_socket.pyd
• C:\Program Files (x86)\NVDA\_ssl.pyd

Use regedit.exe to manually remove from the Windows Registry the keys below:

• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.nvda-addon
• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\NVDA.Addon.1
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\NVDA
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\nvda

Open regedit.exe in order to delete the following registry values:

• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\NVDA.Addon.1\shell\open\command\
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\NVDA\DisplayIcon
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\NVDA\DisplayName
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\NVDA\InstallDir

A way to uninstall NVDA from your PC with the help of Advanced Uninstaller PRO

NVDA is a program offered by NV Access. Sometimes, users choose to uninstall this application. This can be difficult because performing this by hand requires some advanced knowledge related to Windows program uninstallation. One of the best SIMPLE manner to uninstall NVDA is to use Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Take the following steps on how to do this:





1. If you don't have Advanced Uninstaller PRO already installed on your Windows system, install it. This is good because Advanced Uninstaller PRO is the best uninstaller and general tool to clean your Windows PC.

• go to Download Link
• download the setup by clicking on the green DOWNLOAD button
• install Advanced Uninstaller PRO

2. Run Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Take some time to admire the program's design and wealth of tools available. Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very good Windows tool.

3. Click on the General Tools button


4. Click on the Uninstall Programs tool


5. All the programs installed on the computer will be made available to you

6. Scroll the list of programs until you find NVDA or simply activate the Search field and type in "NVDA". If it exists on your system the NVDA app will be found automatically. When you select NVDA in the list of programs, some data regarding the application is made available to you:

• Safety rating (in the lower left corner). This explains the opinion other people have regarding NVDA, ranging from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
• Opinions by other people - Click on the Read reviews button.
• Technical information regarding the application you are about to uninstall, by clicking on the Properties button.

For example you can see that for NVDA:

• The web site of the application is: http://www.nvaccess.org/
• The uninstall string is: C:\Program Files\NVDA\uninstall.exe

7. Press the Uninstall button. A confirmation window will show up. Confirm the removal by pressing Uninstall. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will automatically uninstall NVDA.


8. After removing NVDA, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will offer to run a cleanup. Press Next to go ahead with the cleanup. All the items that belong NVDA that have been left behind will be found and you will be asked if you want to delete them. By removing NVDA using Advanced Uninstaller PRO, you can be sure that no Windows registry entries, files or folders are left behind on your system.

Your Windows system will remain clean, speedy and ready to serve you properly.
