Use regedit.exe to manually remove from the Windows Registry the keys below:

• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\x-github-desktop-auth
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\GitHubDesktop

Open regedit.exe to delete the registry values below from the Windows Registry:

• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\MuiCache\C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\GitHubDesktop\GitHubDesktop.exe

How to uninstall GitHub Desktop from your computer using Advanced Uninstaller PRO

GitHub Desktop is an application offered by the software company GitHub, Inc.. Sometimes, computer users want to uninstall this application. Sometimes this is efortful because doing this by hand takes some skill regarding Windows program uninstallation. One of the best QUICK approach to uninstall GitHub Desktop is to use Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Take the following steps on how to do this:





1. If you don't have Advanced Uninstaller PRO on your system, add it. This is good because Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very useful uninstaller and general utility to take care of your system.

• go to Download Link
• download the program by pressing the green DOWNLOAD NOW button
• install Advanced Uninstaller PRO

2. Start Advanced Uninstaller PRO. It's recommended to take your time to admire Advanced Uninstaller PRO's interface and number of tools available. Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very good package of utilities.

3. Press the General Tools category


4. Click on the Uninstall Programs tool


5. All the applications existing on the computer will appear

6. Scroll the list of applications until you locate GitHub Desktop or simply activate the Search feature and type in "GitHub Desktop". If it is installed on your PC the GitHub Desktop app will be found automatically. Notice that when you click GitHub Desktop in the list of apps, some information about the program is available to you:

• Star rating (in the left lower corner). This tells you the opinion other people have about GitHub Desktop, from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
• Opinions by other people - Press the Read reviews button.
• Technical information about the application you wish to remove, by pressing the Properties button.

7. Click the Uninstall button. A confirmation window will come up. accept the uninstall by pressing Uninstall. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will then uninstall GitHub Desktop.


8. After removing GitHub Desktop, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will ask you to run a cleanup. Click Next to proceed with the cleanup. All the items of GitHub Desktop that have been left behind will be detected and you will be able to delete them. By removing GitHub Desktop with Advanced Uninstaller PRO, you are assured that no Windows registry items, files or folders are left behind on your computer.

Your Windows system will remain clean, speedy and able to take on new tasks.
