How to uninstall CMake from your PC

This page contains complete information on how to uninstall CMake for Windows. The Windows release was developed by Kitware. More information on Kitware can be seen here. Please open if you want to read more on CMake on Kitware's web page. Usually the CMake program is installed in the C:\Program Files\CMake folder, depending on the user's option during install. You can remove CMake by clicking on the Start menu of Windows and pasting the command line MsiExec.exe /X{D5049F2D-3FDA-4F1C-A3DF-86BEF2C326CB}. Keep in mind that you might get a notification for administrator rights. cmake.exe is the programs's main file and it takes around 11.51 MB (12073440 bytes) on disk.

CMake installs the following the executables on your PC, taking about 63.80 MB (66897248 bytes) on disk.

  • cmake-gui.exe (26.34 MB)
  • cmake.exe (11.51 MB)
  • cmcldeps.exe (1.88 MB)
  • cpack.exe (11.63 MB)
  • ctest.exe (12.43 MB)

How to uninstall CMake from your PC with Advanced Uninstaller PRO

CMake is an application released by Kitware. Some computer users try to remove this application. This can be hard because doing this manually takes some know-how related to Windows internal functioning. One of the best SIMPLE approach to remove CMake is to use Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Here is how to do this:





1. If you don't have Advanced Uninstaller PRO already installed on your Windows PC, install it. This is a good step because Advanced Uninstaller PRO is the best uninstaller and all around utility to maximize the performance of your Windows system.

  • download the program by clicking on the green DOWNLOAD button
  • set up Advanced Uninstaller PRO
2. Run Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Take some time to get familiar with the program's design and number of tools available. Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very useful Windows optimizer.

3. Click on the General Tools category

6. Navigate the list of programs until you locate CMake or simply activate the Search field and type in "CMake". If it is installed on your PC the CMake app will be found automatically. Notice that when you click CMake in the list of programs, the following data about the application is made available to you:


  • Star rating (in the lower left corner). This tells you the opinion other users have about CMake, from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
  • Opinions by other users - Click on the Read reviews button.
  • Details about the application you wish to remove, by clicking on the Properties button.

7. Click the Uninstall button. A confirmation page will show up. Confirm the removal by clicking the Uninstall button. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will automatically remove CMake.

8. After removing CMake, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will ask you to run an additional cleanup. Click Next to perform the cleanup. All the items of CMake which have been left behind will be found and you will be able to delete them. By uninstalling CMake using Advanced Uninstaller PRO, you can be sure that no registry items, files or folders are left behind on your system.
