A guide to uninstall GNS3 from your system

GNS3 is a computer program. Some files and registry entries are typically left behind when you remove GNS3.

Folders found on disk after you uninstall GNS3 from your PC:

• C:\UserNames\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp\tmpagda0e6m-gns3
• C:\UserNames\UserName\AppData\Roaming\GNS3

The files below are left behind on your disk by GNS3's application uninstaller when you removed it:

• C:\UserNames\UserName\AppData\Roaming\GNS3\2.2\gns3_controller.ini
• C:\UserNames\UserName\AppData\Roaming\GNS3\2.2\gns3_gui.ini
• C:\UserNames\UserName\AppData\Roaming\GNS3\2.2\gns3_gui.log
• C:\UserNames\UserName\AppData\Roaming\GNS3\2.2\gns3_gui.pid
• C:\UserNames\UserName\AppData\Roaming\GNS3\2.2\gns3_server.ini
• C:\UserNames\UserName\AppData\Roaming\GNS3\2.2\gns3_server.log

Use regedit.exe to manually remove from the Windows Registry the keys below:

• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.gns3
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\GNS3

Open regedit.exe to remove the values below from the Windows Registry:

• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\MuiCache\C:\Program Files\GNS3\gns3.exe.FriendlyAppName
• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\MuiCache\C:\Program Files\GNS3\npcap-0.9990.exe.FriendlyAppName
• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\MuiCache\C:\Program Files\GNS3\WinPcap_4_1_3.exe.ApplicationCompany
• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\MuiCache\C:\Program Files\GNS3\WinPcap_4_1_3.exe.FriendlyAppName

How to uninstall GNS3 from your computer using Advanced Uninstaller PRO

GNS3 is an application released by the software company GNS3 Technology Inc.. Some users decide to uninstall this program. Sometimes this is easier said than done because performing this by hand takes some skill related to Windows program uninstallation. One of the best QUICK way to uninstall GNS3 is to use Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Here are some detailed instructions about how to do this:





1. If you don't have Advanced Uninstaller PRO already installed on your Windows PC, install it. This is good because Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very useful uninstaller and general utility to take care of your Windows computer.

• go to Download Link
• download the setup by clicking on the DOWNLOAD NOW button
• set up Advanced Uninstaller PRO

2. Run Advanced Uninstaller PRO. It's recommended to take your time to get familiar with the program's design and wealth of tools available. Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very useful system utility.

3. Press the General Tools category


4. Click on the Uninstall Programs button


5. All the programs existing on the computer will be made available to you

6. Navigate the list of programs until you locate GNS3 or simply click the Search feature and type in "GNS3". If it exists on your system the GNS3 application will be found automatically. Notice that when you select GNS3 in the list of programs, the following data about the program is made available to you:

• Safety rating (in the lower left corner). This tells you the opinion other users have about GNS3, ranging from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
• Opinions by other users - Press the Read reviews button.
• Technical information about the program you are about to uninstall, by clicking on the Properties button.

For example you can see that for GNS3:

• The web site of the application is: http://www.gns3.com
• The uninstall string is: C:\Program Files\GNS3\Uninstall.exe

7. Press the Uninstall button. A window asking you to confirm will show up. Confirm the uninstall by pressing the Uninstall button. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will then remove GNS3.


8. After uninstalling GNS3, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will ask you to run an additional cleanup. Click Next to perform the cleanup. All the items of GNS3 that have been left behind will be found and you will be able to delete them. By removing GNS3 using Advanced Uninstaller PRO, you can be sure that no Windows registry entries, files or directories are left behind on your computer.
