VMware Tools has the habit of leaving behind some leftovers.

Directories left on disk:
  • C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Tools
  • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\VMware\VMware Tools

The files below remain on your disk by VMware Tools's application uninstaller when you removed it:
  • C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Tools\deployPkg.dll
  • C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Tools\gio-2.0.dll
  • C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Tools\glib-2.0.dll
  • C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Tools\glibmm-2.4.dll

You will find in the Windows Registry that the following keys will not be cleaned; remove them one by one using regedit.exe:
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{6B8C0665-86D9-4dc9-8D58-FABE31A495E3}
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{D2B9F6D3-763D-44FD-8940-2AB1FB41338D}

How to erase VMware Tools from your computer using Advanced Uninstaller PRO

VMware Tools is a program marketed by the software company VMware, Inc.. Some computer users choose to remove this program. Sometimes this is efortful because performing this manually requires some experience related to Windows internal functioning. The best QUICK manner to remove VMware Tools is to use Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Take the following steps on how to do this:

1. If you don't have Advanced Uninstaller PRO already installed on your Windows PC, add it. This is good because Advanced Uninstaller PRO is an efficient uninstaller and general tool to take care of your Windows system.

6. Scroll the list of applications until you find VMware Tools or simply activate the Search feature and type in "VMware Tools". The VMware Tools program will be found automatically. After you select VMware Tools in the list of apps, the following data regarding the program is made available to you:


  • Star rating (in the left lower corner). The star rating explains the opinion other users have regarding VMware Tools, ranging from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
  • Opinions by other users - Click on the Read reviews button.
  • Details regarding the application you wish to uninstall, by pressing the Properties button.
7. Press the Uninstall button. A confirmation dialog will appear. Confirm the uninstall by clicking the Uninstall button. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will uninstall VMware Tools.

8. After removing VMware Tools, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will offer to run an additional cleanup. Press Next to start the cleanup.
