How to uninstall Zotero from your PC

Zotero is a computer program. This page holds details on how to remove it from your computer. It is developed by Corporation for Digital Scholarship. Further information on Corporation for Digital Scholarship can be found here. Please follow https://www.zotero.org if you want to read more on Zotero on Corporation for Digital Scholarship's website. The program is usually placed in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Zotero folder (same installation drive as Windows). The full command line for removing Zotero is C:\Program Files (x86)\Zotero\uninstall\helper.exe. Note that if you will type this command in Start / Run Note you might get a notification for admin rights. zotero.exe is the Zotero's primary executable file and it takes circa 97.05 KB (99384 bytes) on disk.

The following executables are installed together with Zotero. They occupy about 1.65 MB (1727264 bytes) on disk.

You will find in the Windows Registry that the following data will not be uninstalled; remove them one by one using regedit.exe:

A way to remove Zotero with Advanced Uninstaller PRO

Zotero is a program offered by Corporation for Digital Scholarship. Some users want to remove this application. This is easier said than done because uninstalling this by hand takes some know-how regarding removing Windows programs manually. One of the best SIMPLE solution to remove Zotero is to use Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Here are some detailed instructions about how to do this:





1. If you don't have Advanced Uninstaller PRO already installed on your system, install it. This is a good step because Advanced Uninstaller PRO is one of the best uninstaller and all around utility to optimize your system.

DOWNLOAD NOW

• navigate to Download Link
• download the program by clicking on the green DOWNLOAD button
• install Advanced Uninstaller PRO

2. Run Advanced Uninstaller PRO. It's recommended to take your time to get familiar with the program's design and number of features available. Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very good Windows tool.

3. Press the General Tools button


4. Press the Uninstall Programs tool


5. A list of the programs installed on the computer will appear

6. Scroll the list of programs until you locate Zotero or simply click the Search field and type in "Zotero". The Zotero application will be found very quickly. When you select Zotero in the list , the following information regarding the application is shown to you:

• Safety rating (in the left lower corner). The star rating tells you the opinion other users have regarding Zotero, ranging from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
• Opinions by other users - Press the Read reviews button.
• Details regarding the app you wish to remove, by clicking on the Properties button.

For example you can see that for Zotero:

• The publisher is: https://www.zotero.org
• The uninstall string is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Zotero\uninstall\helper.exe

7. Press the Uninstall button. A confirmation dialog will show up. accept the removal by pressing the Uninstall button. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will remove Zotero.


8. After uninstalling Zotero, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will offer to run an additional cleanup. Press Next to start the cleanup. All the items of Zotero that have been left behind will be detected and you will be asked if you want to delete them. By uninstalling Zotero using Advanced Uninstaller PRO, you can be sure that no Windows registry entries, files or folders are left behind on your PC.
