How to uninstall Plex from your system

Plex has the habit of leaving behind some leftovers.

You will find in the Windows Registry that the following keys will not be uninstalled; remove them one by one using regedit.exe:
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Plex
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Plex, Inc.

Registry values that are not removed from your computer:

A way to remove Plex using Advanced Uninstaller PRO

Plex is a program by the software company Plex, Inc.. Some computer users want to erase it.   • set up Advanced Uninstaller PRO
2. Run Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Take some time to get familiar with Advanced Uninstaller PRO's interface and wealth of features available. Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very useful PC management program.

3. Press the General Tools category

4. Press the Uninstall Programs feature

5. A list of the applications existing on the computer will be made available to you

6. Scroll the list of applications until you locate Plex or simply activate the Search field and type in "Plex". If it exists on your system the Plex app will be found automatically. Notice that after you select Plex in the list of programs, the following data regarding the program is made available to you:


  • Star rating (in the lower left corner). This explains the opinion other people have regarding Plex, ranging from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
  • Reviews by other people - Press the Read reviews button.
  • Technical information regarding the application you are about to remove, by clicking on the Properties button.
7. Press the Uninstall button. A confirmation window will appear. accept the uninstall by clicking Uninstall. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will automatically remove Plex.

8. After removing Plex, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will offer to run an additional cleanup. Click Next to start the cleanup. All the items of Plex which have been left behind will be found and you will be asked if you want to delete them.
