Dev-C++ has the habit of leaving behind some leftovers.

Folders left behind when you uninstall Dev-C++:
  • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Bloodshed Dev-C++

Check for and delete the following files from your disk when you uninstall Dev-C++:
  • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Bloodshed Dev-C++\Dev-C++.lnk
  • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Bloodshed Dev-C++\License.lnk
  • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Bloodshed Dev-C++\Uninstall Dev-C++.lnk
  • C:\Users\%user%\Desktop\Dev-C++.lnk

Use regedit.exe to manually remove from the Windows Registry the keys below:
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.c
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.dev
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.h
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.rc

Additional registry values that are not removed:
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DevCpp.c\DefaultIcon\
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DevCpp.c\Shell\Open\Command\
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DevCpp.cpp\DefaultIcon\
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DevCpp.cpp\Shell\Open\Command\


A way to delete Dev-C++ from your PC using Advanced Uninstaller PRO

Dev-C++ is an application released by Bloodshed Software. Frequently, computer users decide to remove it. This can be efortful because deleting this manually requires some skill related to PCs. The best QUICK procedure to remove Dev-C++ is to use Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Take the following steps on how to do this:

2. Run Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Take your time to admire Advanced Uninstaller PRO's interface and number of tools available. Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a powerful program.

3. Click on the General Tools category

5. All the programs installed on the computer will be shown to you

6. Scroll the list of programs until you find Dev-C++ or simply click the Search feature and type in "Dev-C++". If it exists on your system the Dev-C++ program will be found very quickly. Notice that after you click Dev-C++ in the list of apps, some data regarding the program is available to you:


  • Star rating (in the left lower corner). The star rating tells you the opinion other users have regarding Dev-C++, ranging from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
  • Opinions by other users - Click on the Read reviews button.
  • Technical information regarding the app you are about to uninstall, by clicking on the Properties button.
7. Press the Uninstall button. A confirmation page will appear. accept the removal by pressing Uninstall. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will automatically remove Dev-C++.

8. After uninstalling Dev-C++, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will offer to run a cleanup. Press Next to proceed with the cleanup. All the items that belong Dev-C++ that have been left behind will be detected and you will be asked if you want to delete them.
