How to uninstall Git from your computer

Git is a computer program. This page holds details on how to remove it from your PC. The Windows version was created by The Git Development Community. Check out here for more info on The Git Development Community. More info about the program Git can be found at https://gitforwindows.org/. Git is normally installed in the C:\Program Files\Git directory, however this location can differ a lot depending on the user's option when installing the program. You can uninstall Git by clicking on the Start menu of Windows and pasting the command line C:\Program Files\Git\unins000.exe. Note that you might be prompted for admin rights. git.exe is the Git's main executable file and it takes around 3.56 MB (3728944 bytes) on disk.

Use regedit.exe to manually remove from the Windows Registry the data below:

Use regedit.exe to delete the following additional registry values from the Windows Registry:

• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\MuiCache\C:\Program Files\Git\mingw64\bin\wish.exe.ApplicationCompany
• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\MuiCache\C:\Program Files\Git\mingw64\bin\wish.exe.FriendlyAppName

How to remove Git from your PC with the help of Advanced Uninstaller PRO

Git is an application marketed by The Git Development Community. Sometimes, users choose to uninstall this application. Notice that when you click Git in the list of applications, the following data about the program is shown to you:

• Star rating (in the lower left corner). The star rating tells you the opinion other people have about Git, from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
• Reviews by other people - Click on the Read reviews button.
• Details about the app you wish to remove, by clicking on the Properties button.

7. Press the Uninstall button. A confirmation page will show up. accept the uninstall by clicking Uninstall. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will uninstall Git.


8. After uninstalling Git, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will ask you to run an additional cleanup. Click Next to go ahead with the cleanup. All the items that belong Git which have been left behind will be detected and you will be asked if you want to delete them. By removing Git using Advanced Uninstaller PRO, you are assured that no registry entries, files or folders are left behind on your computer.
