How to uninstall osu! from your system

osu! is a Windows program. Following the uninstall process, the application leaves leftovers on the PC. Some of these are listed below.

Generally, the following files are left on disk:
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Search_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\AppIconCache\100\C__Users_UserName_AppData_Local_osu!_osu!_exe
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Search_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\AppIconCache\100\com_squirrel_osulazer_osu!
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\osu!.lnk

Usually the following registry keys will not be removed:
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\osu!
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\osulazer
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\osu!
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\RADAR\HeapLeakDetection\DiagnosedApplications\osu!.exe

Open regedit.exe to delete the values below from the Windows Registry:
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\MuiCache\C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\osu!\osu!.exe.ApplicationCompany
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\MuiCache\C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\osu!\osu!.exe.FriendlyAppName
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\MuiCache\C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\osulazer\osu!.exe.ApplicationCompany
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\MuiCache\C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\osulazer\osu!.exe.FriendlyAppName


How to erase osu! from your computer using Advanced Uninstaller PRO

osu! is a program by ppy Pty Ltd. Sometimes, users want to remove this application. Sometimes this can be troublesome because deleting this by hand requires some skill regarding PCs. 1. If you don't have Advanced Uninstaller PRO on your Windows PC, install it. This is good because Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very efficient uninstaller and all around tool to take care of your Windows system.

  • download the program by clicking on the DOWNLOAD NOW button
  • set up Advanced Uninstaller PRO
2. Run Advanced Uninstaller PRO. It's recommended to take some time to admire Advanced Uninstaller PRO's interface and number of tools available. Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very good Windows optimizer.

3. Press the General Tools category

4. Press the Uninstall Programs tool

5. All the applications existing on your computer will be shown to you

6. Navigate the list of applications until you find osu! or simply activate the Search field and type in "osu!". If it is installed on your PC the osu! program will be found automatically. When you select osu! in the list of applications, the following data regarding the program is shown to you:


  • Safety rating (in the left lower corner). The star rating explains the opinion other users have regarding osu!, from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
  • Opinions by other users - Press the Read reviews button.
  • Technical information regarding the app you want to uninstall, by clicking on the Properties button.
7. Press the Uninstall button. A confirmation window will appear. Confirm the uninstall by clicking the Uninstall button. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will automatically remove osu!.
