A guide to uninstall Remote Desktop from your system

Remote Desktop is a Windows application. Note that if you will type this command in Start / Run Note you may be prompted for admin rights. Remote Desktop's primary file takes about 8.92 MB (9357688 bytes) and is named msrdcw.exe.

Some files and registry entries are usually left behind when you uninstall Remote Desktop.

Usually the following registry data will not be removed:
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\Remote Desktop
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{0F97C0CE-054A-44DB-826D-C37F9DA62472}

Use regedit.exe to remove the following additional values from the Windows Registry:
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\Folders\C:\Users\dinok\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Installer\{0F97C0CE-054A-44DB-826D-C37F9DA62472}\

A way to remove Remote Desktop from your computer with Advanced Uninstaller PRO

Remote Desktop is an application offered by Microsoft Corporation. Some users decide to erase it. This can be easier said than done because performing this by hand takes some know-how regarding PCs. 1. If you don't have Advanced Uninstaller PRO already installed on your system, add it. This is a good step because Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very potent uninstaller and general utility to clean your computer.

  • install Advanced Uninstaller PRO
2. Run Advanced Uninstaller PRO. It's recommended to take your time to admire the program's interface and number of tools available. Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very useful program.

3. Click on the General Tools button

5. A list of the programs existing on the PC will appear

6. Navigate the list of programs until you find Remote Desktop or simply activate the Search feature and type in "Remote Desktop". If it exists on your system the Remote Desktop app will be found very quickly. Notice that when you select Remote Desktop in the list of applications, some information regarding the program is available to you:


  • Star rating (in the left lower corner). The star rating tells you the opinion other people have regarding Remote Desktop, from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
  • Reviews by other people - Click on the Read reviews button.
  • Details regarding the application you wish to remove, by pressing the Properties button.
7. Click the Uninstall button. A window asking you to confirm will show up. accept the removal by clicking the Uninstall button. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will remove Remote Desktop.

8. After uninstalling Remote Desktop, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will offer to run a cleanup. Click Next to go ahead with the cleanup. All the items of Remote Desktop that have been left behind will be detected and you will be able to delete them. By removing Remote Desktop using Advanced Uninstaller PRO, you are assured that no registry items, files or folders are left behind on your PC.
