Some files and registry entries are usually left behind when you uninstall GitHub Desktop.

You will find in the Windows Registry that the following data will not be uninstalled; remove them one by one using regedit.exe:

• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\x-github-desktop-auth

If it exists on your system the GitHub Desktop program will be found very quickly. Notice that when you click GitHub Desktop in the list of programs, some data about the program is available to you:

• Safety rating (in the lower left corner). This tells you the opinion other users have about GitHub Desktop, ranging from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
• Reviews by other users - Press the Read reviews button.
• Technical information about the application you wish to uninstall, by pressing the Properties button.

7. Click the Uninstall button. A confirmation window will come up. accept the uninstall by pressing the Uninstall button. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will uninstall GitHub Desktop.


8. After removing GitHub Desktop, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will offer to run an additional cleanup. Press Next to proceed with the cleanup.
