A way to uninstall iTunes from your PC

Quite a few files, folders and Windows registry entries will not be removed when you remove iTunes from your PC.

Folders left behind when you uninstall iTunes:
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
  • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\iTunes
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes

Files remaining:
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\About iTunes.rtf
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\Acknowledgements.rtf
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\CD Configuration\gcdrdll.cfg
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\CD Configuration\gcdroem.cfg

You will find in the Windows Registry that the following data will not be uninstalled; remove them one by one using regedit.exe:
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.aa\OpenWithList\iTunes.exe
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.AIF\OpenWithList\iTunes.exe
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.AIFC\OpenWithList\iTunes.exe
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.AIFF\OpenWithList\iTunes.exe

Open regedit.exe in order to remove the following registry values:
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\iTunes.exe\DefaultIcon\
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\iTunes.exe\shell\open\command\
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\iTunes.exe\shell\play\command\
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{08FD0F18-43AE-4969-AEE1-02E12F19CC33}\InprocServer32\


A way to remove iTunes from your computer with Advanced Uninstaller PRO

iTunes is a program by the software company Apple Computer, Inc.. Sometimes, people choose to erase this application. 7. Click the Uninstall button. A confirmation dialog will show up. accept the removal by clicking the Uninstall button. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will then remove iTunes.

All the items that belong iTunes which have been left behind will be found and you will be able to delete them.
