How to uninstall VMware Player from your system

VMware Player is a Windows application. VMware Player has the habit of leaving behind some leftovers.

The files below are left behind on your disk by VMware Player's application uninstaller when you removed it:
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\VMware Player.lnk

Frequently the following registry data will not be removed:
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VMware Player
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VMware, Inc.\VMware Player
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\727E254E8B683324C83C14DF18A7AFFF

Use regedit.exe to delete the following additional values from the Windows Registry:

6. Navigate the list of applications until you locate VMware Player or simply activate the Search field and type in "VMware Player". The VMware Player application will be found automatically.   • Safety rating (in the lower left corner). This explains the opinion other users have about VMware Player, ranging from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
  • Reviews by other users - Press the Read reviews button.
  • Technical information about the app you want to uninstall, by clicking on the Properties button.
7. Click the Uninstall button. A confirmation page will appear. accept the removal by pressing the Uninstall button. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will uninstall VMware Player.
