How to uninstall Spotify from your computer

Spotify is a Windows application. Read more about how to remove it from your PC. The Windows version was created by Spotify AB. Additional info about Spotify AB can be read here. Please follow if you want to read more on Spotify on Spotify AB's website. Spotify is commonly installed in the C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Spotify folder, but this location may vary a lot depending on the user's decision while installing the application. The entire uninstall command line for Spotify is C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\Spotify.exe. The program's main executable file has a size of 7.90 MB (8281920 bytes) on disk and is called Spotify.exe.

Spotify is composed of the following executables which take 11.37 MB (11919424 bytes) on disk:

  • Spotify.exe (7.90 MB)
  • SpotifyCrashService.exe (1,007.81 KB)
  • SpotifyLauncher.exe (183.31 KB)

When you're planning to uninstall Spotify you should check if the following data is left behind on your PC.

Directories found on disk:
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Spotify
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Roaming\Spotify

The files below were left behind on your disk when you remove Spotify:
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Local Storage\https_player.spotify.com_0.localstorage
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Spotify\Apps\expiretimes.json
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Spotify\Apps\follow.spa
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Spotify\Browser\ChromeDWriteFontCache

Frequently the following registry keys will not be removed:
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\spotify
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Spotify
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Spotify

Supplementary registry values that are not cleaned:
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\spotify\DefaultIcon\

How to remove Spotify using Advanced Uninstaller PRO

Spotify is a program offered by Spotify AB. Sometimes, users want to erase this program. Sometimes this is troublesome because uninstalling this manually requires some knowledge related to Windows internal functioning. The best QUICK practice to erase Spotify is to use Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Take the following steps on how to do this:





1. If you don't have Advanced Uninstaller PRO on your system, add it. This is a good step because Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very potent uninstaller and all around tool to take care of your system.

  • download the program by clicking on the green DOWNLOAD button
  • set up Advanced Uninstaller PRO
2. Run Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Take your time to admire Advanced Uninstaller PRO's interface and number of features available. Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very good package of utilities.

3. Click on the General Tools button

4. Press the Uninstall Programs tool

5. A list of the programs installed on the PC will appear

6. Scroll the list of programs until you find Spotify or simply activate the Search field and type in "Spotify". If it exists on your system the Spotify app will be found very quickly. Notice that after you select Spotify in the list of apps, some information regarding the program is made available to you:


  • Star rating (in the lower left corner). This tells you the opinion other people have regarding Spotify, ranging from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
  • Opinions by other people - Click on the Read reviews button.
  • Details regarding the application you want to remove, by clicking on the Properties button.
For example you can see that for Spotify:





  • The software company is: https://www.spotify.com
  • The uninstall string is: C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\Spotify.exe
7. Click the Uninstall button. A confirmation dialog will appear. accept the uninstall by pressing Uninstall. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will then remove Spotify.

8. After uninstalling Spotify, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will offer to run a cleanup. Click Next to start the cleanup. All the items of Spotify which have been left behind will be detected and you will be asked if you want to delete them. By removing Spotify with Advanced Uninstaller PRO, you can be sure that no Windows registry items, files or folders are left behind on your disk.
