How to uninstall SourceTree from your PC

You can find on this page details on how to uninstall SourceTree for Windows. The Windows release was developed by Atlassian. More data about Atlassian can be found here. Please follow if you want to read more on SourceTree on Atlassian's web page. Usually the SourceTree program is to be found in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Atlassian\SourceTree directory, depending on the user's option during install. The entire uninstall command line for SourceTree is C:\ProgramData\Caphyon\Advanced Installer\{CD26F719-C3DD-4DCD-BA1E-21353A2E0B00}\SourceTreeSetup_1.6.4.exe /x {CD26F719-C3DD-4DCD-BA1E-21353A2E0B00}. SourceTree.exe is the programs's main file and it takes close to 2.75 MB (2879064 bytes) on disk.

SourceTree installs the following the executables on your PC, taking about 4.81 MB (5038448 bytes) on disk.

Some files and registry entries are usually left behind when you uninstall SourceTree.

Directories found on disk:
  • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Atlassian\SourceTree
  • C:\TOOL\common\SourceTree
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Atlassian\SourceTree

The files below are left behind on your disk by SourceTree's application uninstaller when you removed it:
  • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Atlassian\SourceTree\Check For Updates.lnk
  • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Atlassian\SourceTree\SourceTree.lnk

Use regedit.exe to manually remove from the Windows Registry the keys below:
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\sourcetree
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Atlassian\SourceTree
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\SourceTree 1.6.4

Additional registry values that are not removed:

How to uninstall SourceTree from your computer using Advanced Uninstaller PRO

SourceTree is a program by Atlassian. Sometimes, users decide to erase it. This is efortful because deleting this by hand takes some know-how regarding Windows program uninstallation. One of the best QUICK way to erase SourceTree is to use Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Take the following steps on how to do this:





1. If you don't have Advanced Uninstaller PRO already installed on your PC, add it. This is good because Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very efficient uninstaller and general tool to clean your system.

  • navigate to Download Link
  • download the setup by clicking on the DOWNLOAD NOW button
  • install Advanced Uninstaller PRO
2. Start Advanced Uninstaller PRO. It's recommended to take some time to get familiar with Advanced Uninstaller PRO's interface and number of tools available. Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very good Windows optimizer.

3. Press the General Tools button

4. Activate the Uninstall Programs button

5. A list of the programs existing on the computer will be shown to you

6. Navigate the list of programs until you locate SourceTree or simply activate the Search feature and type in "SourceTree". If it is installed on your PC the SourceTree application will be found very quickly. Notice that when you select SourceTree in the list , the following information regarding the program is made available to you:


  • Star rating (in the lower left corner). This explains the opinion other users have regarding SourceTree, from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
  • Reviews by other users - Press the Read reviews button.
  • Technical information regarding the application you are about to remove, by clicking on the Properties button.

  • The software company is: http://www.sourcetreeapp.com
  • The uninstall string is: C:\ProgramData\Caphyon\Advanced Installer\{CD26F719-C3DD-4DCD-BA1E-21353A2E0B00}\SourceTreeSetup_1.6.4.exe /x {CD26F719-C3DD-4DCD-BA1E-21353A2E0B00}
7. Click the Uninstall button. A window asking you to confirm will show up. Confirm the removal by pressing the Uninstall button. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will then remove SourceTree.

8. After removing SourceTree, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will offer to run a cleanup. Press Next to go ahead with the cleanup. All the items of SourceTree that have been left behind will be found and you will be asked if you want to delete them. By uninstalling SourceTree using Advanced Uninstaller PRO, you can be sure that no registry items, files or folders are left behind on your system.

Your computer will remain clean, speedy and ready to serve you properly.
