How to uninstall Dropbox from your system

If you are manually uninstalling Dropbox we advise you to check if the following data is left behind on your PC.

Folders found on disk after you uninstall Dropbox from your computer:
  • C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Dropbox

The files below remain on your disk when you remove Dropbox:
  • C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Dropbox\bin\DropboxExt.14.dll
  • C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Dropbox\bin\msvcp71.dll
  • C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Dropbox\bin\msvcr71.dll
  • C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Dropbox\host.dbx

Usually the following registry keys will not be removed:
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Dropbox

Additional values that are not removed:
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List\C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Dropbox\bin\Dropbox.exe


A way to erase Dropbox from your PC with Advanced Uninstaller PRO

6. Scroll the list of applications until you find Dropbox or simply activate the Search field and type in "Dropbox". The Dropbox program will be found automatically. After you click Dropbox in the list of programs, the following information regarding the program is available to you:


  • Safety rating (in the lower left corner). This tells you the opinion other people have regarding Dropbox, from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
  • Reviews by other people - Press the Read reviews button.
  • Details regarding the app you want to remove, by pressing the Properties button.

7. Click the Uninstall button. A confirmation page will show up. Confirm the uninstall by clicking the Uninstall button. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will then remove Dropbox.
