Numerous files, folders and registry data will not be uninstalled when you want to remove Dropbox from your PC.

Folders left behind when you uninstall Dropbox:
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Dropbox
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Temp\comtypes_cache\Dropbox-27
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Roaming\Dropbox

The files below are left behind on your disk by Dropbox's application uninstaller when you removed it:
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client\Dropbox.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client\DropboxExt64.31.dll
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client\DropboxUninstaller.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Update\1.3.27.77\DropboxCrashHandler.exe

You will find in the Windows Registry that the following keys will not be cleaned; remove them one by one using regedit.exe:
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Dropbox.AutoplayEventHandler
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Dropbox.OneClickProcessLauncherMachine
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Dropbox
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Dropbox

Open regedit.exe in order to delete the following values:
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{099218A5-A723-43DC-8DB5-6173656A1E94}\DisplayName
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{099218A5-A723-43DC-8DB5-6173656A1E94}\InstallSource
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{099218A5-A723-43DC-8DB5-6173656A1E94}\Publisher


How to erase Dropbox from your PC with Advanced Uninstaller PRO

Dropbox is an application marketed by the software company Dropbox, Inc.. Sometimes, people want to remove it. This can be troublesome because uninstalling this by hand requires some advanced knowledge related to Windows internal functioning. 3. Click on the General Tools button

6. Navigate the list of programs until you find Dropbox or simply click the Search field and type in "Dropbox". If it is installed on your PC the Dropbox program will be found very quickly. Notice that after you select Dropbox in the list of apps, the following data regarding the application is available to you:


  • Star rating (in the lower left corner). The star rating explains the opinion other users have regarding Dropbox, from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
  • Opinions by other users - Click on the Read reviews button.
  • Details regarding the program you are about to remove, by clicking on the Properties button.

7. Press the Uninstall button. A confirmation window will show up. Confirm the uninstall by clicking Uninstall. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will uninstall Dropbox.
