A guide to uninstall Dropbox from your computer

Dropbox is a software application. Dropbox has the habit of leaving behind some leftovers.

Folders that were left behind:
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox
  • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Dropbox
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Dropbox
  • C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Temp\comtypes_cache\Dropbox-27

Generally, the following files are left on disk:
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client\Assets\150x150Logo.png
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client\Assets\70x70Logo.png
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client\D3DCompiler_43.dll
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client\Dropbox.exe

You will find in the Windows Registry that the following data will not be removed; remove them one by one using regedit.exe:
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Dropbox.AutoplayEventHandler
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Dropbox.OneClickProcessLauncherMachine
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Dropbox
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Dropbox

Open regedit.exe in order to remove the following registry values:
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{ECD97DE5-3C8F-4ACB-AEEE-CCAB78F7711C}\InprocServer32\
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FB314ED9-A251-47B7-93E1-CDD82E34AF8B}\InprocServer32\
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FB314EDA-A251-47B7-93E1-CDD82E34AF8B}\InprocServer32\
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FB314EDB-A251-47B7-93E1-CDD82E34AF8B}\InprocServer32\


A way to delete Dropbox from your computer with the help of Advanced Uninstaller PRO

6. Navigate the list of programs until you locate Dropbox or simply activate the Search field and type in "Dropbox". If it exists on your system the Dropbox program will be found very quickly. Notice that when you select Dropbox in the list of apps, some data about the application is shown to you:


  • Star rating (in the lower left corner). This tells you the opinion other people have about Dropbox, ranging from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
  • Opinions by other people - Press the Read reviews button.
  • Technical information about the app you wish to uninstall, by clicking on the Properties button.

7. Click the Uninstall button. A confirmation window will appear. accept the removal by clicking the Uninstall button. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will then uninstall Dropbox.
