How to uninstall Bitcoin from your system

This page is about Bitcoin for Windows. Here you can find details on how to uninstall it from your computer. It was developed for Windows by Bitcoin project. More information on Bitcoin project can be found here. Please follow if you want to read more on Bitcoin on Bitcoin project's website. The program is often installed in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin folder (same installation drive as Windows). C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\uninstall.exe is the full command line if you want to uninstall Bitcoin. Bitcoin's primary file takes around 18.30 MB (19187712 bytes) and is called bitcoin-qt.exe.

The following executable files are incorporated in Bitcoin. They take 23.39 MB (24531354 bytes) on disk.

  • uninstall.exe (351.40 KB)
  • bitcoind.exe (4.75 MB)

How to uninstall Bitcoin with the help of Advanced Uninstaller PRO

Bitcoin is an application by the software company Bitcoin project. Sometimes, people decide to uninstall it. Sometimes this can be hard because uninstalling this manually takes some advanced knowledge related to removing Windows programs manually. One of the best QUICK way to uninstall Bitcoin is to use Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Here is how to do this:





1. If you don't have Advanced Uninstaller PRO on your PC, add it. This is good because Advanced Uninstaller PRO is an efficient uninstaller and general tool to optimize your PC.

  • download the setup by pressing the green DOWNLOAD NOW button
  • install Advanced Uninstaller PRO
2. Start Advanced Uninstaller PRO. It's recommended to take some time to get familiar with Advanced Uninstaller PRO's design and number of functions available. Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very useful Windows optimizer.

3. Click on the General Tools button

4. Press the Uninstall Programs feature

5. A list of the programs installed on your computer will appear

6. Scroll the list of programs until you locate Bitcoin or simply activate the Search feature and type in "Bitcoin". If it is installed on your PC the Bitcoin app will be found automatically. After you click Bitcoin in the list of programs, some data regarding the application is shown to you:


  • Star rating (in the lower left corner). The star rating tells you the opinion other people have regarding Bitcoin, ranging from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
  • Opinions by other people - Click on the Read reviews button.
  • Details regarding the application you want to uninstall, by pressing the Properties button.
For example you can see that for Bitcoin:





  • The web site of the program is: http://www.bitcoin.org/
  • The uninstall string is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\uninstall.exe
7. Click the Uninstall button. A confirmation page will show up. Confirm the uninstall by clicking the Uninstall button. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will remove Bitcoin.

8. After uninstalling Bitcoin, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will offer to run a cleanup. Press Next to go ahead with the cleanup. All the items of Bitcoin that have been left behind will be found and you will be able to delete them. By uninstalling Bitcoin with Advanced Uninstaller PRO, you can be sure that no registry entries, files or folders are left behind on your PC.

Your system will remain clean, speedy and ready to take on new tasks.
