A guide to uninstall BOINC from your computer

Berkeley's page. Usually the BOINC application is to be found in the C:\Program Files (x86)\BOINC folder, depending on the user's option during install. The full command line for removing BOINC is MsiExec.exe /X{9B778D5C-FD55-4E4A-8C6C-14323009D22E}. Keep in mind that if you will type this command in Start / Run Note you might be prompted for admin rights. boincmgr.exe is the programs's main file and it takes close to 9.81 MB (10284528 bytes) on disk.

How to erase BOINC using Advanced Uninstaller PRO

BOINC is a program by the software company Space Sciences Laboratory, U.C. Berkeley. Some people try to uninstall it. This is easier said than done because performing this manually requires some experience related to Windows program uninstallation. One of the best SIMPLE way to uninstall BOINC is to use Advanced Uninstaller PRO. Here are some detailed instructions about how to do this:





1. If you don't have Advanced Uninstaller PRO already installed on your Windows PC, install it. This is a good step because Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very efficient uninstaller and all around tool to clean your Windows computer.

• go to Download Link
• download the program by pressing the DOWNLOAD NOW button
• set up Advanced Uninstaller PRO

2. Run Advanced Uninstaller PRO. It's recommended to take your time to admire Advanced Uninstaller PRO's design and wealth of functions available. Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a powerful package of tools.

3. Click on the General Tools category


4. Click on the Uninstall Programs button


5. All the applications installed on the computer will be shown to you

6. Scroll the list of applications until you find BOINC or simply click the Search field and type in "BOINC". If it is installed on your PC the BOINC program will be found automatically. Notice that when you click BOINC in the list of applications, the following information regarding the application is shown to you:

• Star rating (in the left lower corner). The star rating explains the opinion other users have regarding BOINC, from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
• Opinions by other users - Click on the Read reviews button.
• Details regarding the program you wish to remove, by pressing the Properties button.

For instance you can see that for BOINC:

• The software company is: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/
• The uninstall string is: MsiExec.exe /X{9B778D5C-FD55-4E4A-8C6C-14323009D22E}

7. Click the Uninstall button. A confirmation page will appear. Confirm the removal by pressing Uninstall. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will uninstall BOINC.


8. After uninstalling BOINC, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will offer to run an additional cleanup. Press Next to proceed with the cleanup. All the items of BOINC which have been left behind will be found and you will be asked if you want to delete them. By removing BOINC with Advanced Uninstaller PRO, you are assured that no registry items, files or folders are left behind on your computer.
