A guide to uninstall BOINC from your system

Keep in mind that if you will type this command in Start / Run Note you might be prompted for administrator rights. boinc.exe is the BOINC's primary executable file and it occupies around 1.38 MB (1448744 bytes) on disk.

If you are manually uninstalling BOINC we advise you to check if the following data is left behind on your PC.

You should delete the folders below after you uninstall BOINC:

Usually the following registry data will not be cleaned:

Use regedit.exe to delete the following additional registry values from the Windows Registry:

• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\MuiCache\D:\BOINC.exe
• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\MuiCache\E:\BOINC\boincmgr.exe
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\F9AC6B406BDBCE6419993E4EA4F82C55\ProductName

How to remove BOINC from your PC using Advanced Uninstaller PRO

BOINC is an application released by Space Sciences Laboratory, U.C. Berkeley. Frequently, people choose to erase this program. Sometimes this can be difficult because doing this by hand takes some advanced knowledge related to removing Windows applications by hand. 1. If you don't have Advanced Uninstaller PRO already installed on your Windows PC, install it. This is a good step because Advanced Uninstaller PRO is an efficient uninstaller and all around utility to maximize the performance of your Windows computer.

• navigate to Download Link
• download the setup by pressing the DOWNLOAD button
• install Advanced Uninstaller PRO

2. Run Advanced Uninstaller PRO. It's recommended to take your time to admire Advanced Uninstaller PRO's interface and wealth of tools available. Advanced Uninstaller PRO is a very useful PC management program.

3. Click on the General Tools button


4. Click on the Uninstall Programs button


5. All the applications installed on your PC will be shown to you

6. Navigate the list of applications until you find BOINC or simply click the Search feature and type in "BOINC". The BOINC application will be found very quickly. When you click BOINC in the list of apps, some data about the program is available to you:

• Safety rating (in the left lower corner). This explains the opinion other users have about BOINC, from "Highly recommended" to "Very dangerous".
• Reviews by other users - Click on the Read reviews button.
• Details about the app you want to uninstall, by pressing the Properties button.

For instance you can see that for BOINC:

• The publisher is: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/
• The uninstall string is: MsiExec.exe /X{04B6CA9F-BDB6-46EC-9199-E3E44A8FC255}

7. Press the Uninstall button. A window asking you to confirm will appear. accept the uninstall by pressing the Uninstall button. Advanced Uninstaller PRO will automatically uninstall BOINC.


8. After removing BOINC, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will ask you to run an additional cleanup. Click Next to proceed with the cleanup. All the items of BOINC which have been left behind will be detected and you will be able to delete them. By uninstalling BOINC with Advanced Uninstaller PRO, you are assured that no registry items, files or directories are left behind on your PC.
